Today, Indiana experienced the highest number of new coronavirus infections since the beginning of the pandemic. 1,832 new infections were reported on the ISDH website today with a total of more than 131,000 cases and 3,500 deaths since March. Nationally, the number of new cases is at its highest level since mid-August and worldwide daily new cases are nearing 350,000.
The entire world watched in dismay last week as President Trump and many members of the administration were infected, proving that all individuals are equally vulnerable to the disease. Locally, Southern Hancock schools announced that New Palestine High School is moving to virtual learning immediately and other schools in the district will follow suit after the fall break. Right here at Hancock Health we saw multiple admissions for the disease in a single day for the first time in several months, though that number has again declined to the more normal expectation of just one patient in-house.
We appear to be entering a new phase in the pandemic and it is appropriate for us to be cautious, but not anxious. For a current update via video, please click the following link: https://transcripts.gotomeeting.com/#/s/9e167797b2ec9c38b81dbc62f2c7f1ac26ba6516157d3039b14e60df69b1160e
